More than a century of compassion
Since its founding in 1910, Baptist Homes Society has been dedicated to providing care for individuals who lack the financial means to obtain the care that they need. We are able to do so through generous contributions to our Samaritan Fund for Resident Assistance.
The Baptist Homes Foundation was established in 1986 to promote the mission, vision and values of Baptist Homes Society and to serve as its fundraising arm. While the Samaritan Fund remains our principal fundraising focus, we also make every effort to address the capital needs and obtain the special tools and programs necessary to enhance the lives of those entrusted to our care.
We’re also working to build an endowment to assure our ability to provide benevolent care for future generations. That’s why we offer a variety of giving tools that take into account the needs of our donors as well as the needs of those we serve. For example, some of the gifts we accept provide lifetime income for a donor and/or spouse. Others provide significant federal charitable income tax deductions that can enable a donor to leave more to heirs, or more efficiently convey a family business to the next generation. Whatever your circumstance, we have a way that you can leave a legacy of caring.
Over the past century, we’ve come to learn that exceptional health care is more about caring than it is about cost. Because we don’t have the resources to pay our employees the salary that they deserve, the Baptist Homes Foundation conducts an annual employee appreciation campaign. At its conclusion, every dollar raised is returned to every full and part-time non-management employee on both of our campuses. Handling the campaign in this way entitles every donor’s gift to qualify for a charitable federal income tax deduction. Ironically, many of our employees return a portion of that bonus as a contribution to our Many Hands One Heart Campaign to support our Samaritan Fund.
We invite you to review our website to learn about the ways you can help us deliver our mission, and the ways we may be able to assist you in casting a shadow beyond the grave. Winston Churchill said it best: We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.
For being an important part of the lives of those we serve, thank you.
