January 15, 2021
On January 15, Baptist Homes Society President & CEO Al Allison issued a memo to all residents, families and staff regarding Baptist Homes Society’s continued efforts to battle the COVID-19 virus within our communities. Since our last weekly update on January 8, 2021, one personal care resident and one skilled nursing staff member on the Baptist Homes campus tested positive for COVID-19. At Providence Point, two personal care residents, two skilled nursing residents, one independent living resident, three skilled nursing, one clinic, one dining, and one contracted independent living staff member, along with one lifeguard and one independent living housekeeper have all tested positive for COVID-19. We are following state and federal guidelines and requirements for follow up, testing, and retesting. On January 8, Baptist Homes Society President & CEO Al Allison issued a memo to all residents, families and staff regarding Baptist Homes Society’s continued efforts to battle the COVID-19 virus within our communities. Since our last weekly update on December 30, one skilled nursing resident on the Baptist Homes campus tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, two skilled nursing, one dining, one housekeeping and one contracted agency staff member have tested positive on the Baptist Homes campus. At Providence Point, three skilled nursing residents tested positive for COVID-19. One skilled nursing, two personal care dining, and two independent living dining staff tested positive. Also, two corporate office staff members have tested positive. We are following state and federal guidelines and requirements for follow up, testing, and retesting. Since our last weekly update on December 23rd, 2020, one skilled nursing resident on the Baptist Homes campus tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, seven skilled nursing, two personal care, one dining services, one resident services, one contracted therapy, and one contracted nursing staff member have tested positive on the Baptist Homes campus. At Providence Point, two skilled nursing staff members tested positive for the virus. We are following state and federal guidelines and requirements for follow up, testing, and retesting. Since our last weekly update on December 17, 2020, three personal care residents and eight skilled nursing residents on the Baptist Homes campus tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, eight skilled nursing, one activity, one personal care and one contracted therapy staff member have tested positive on the Baptist Homes campus. Since our last weekly update on December 9, 2020, four personal care residents and thirty-one skilled nursing residents on the Baptist Homes campus tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, fifteen skilled nursing, one corporate, and four personal care staff members have tested positive on the Baptist Homes campus. Since our last weekly update on December 4, 2020, , twelve personal care residents and twenty seven skilled nursing residents on the Baptist Homes campus tested positive for COVID-19. In addition, six staff members have tested positive. On the Providence Point campus, one personal care aide, one laundry aide, and one contracted skilled nursing aide have tested positive. We were informed late last week that a staff member on the Providence Point campus tested positive for COVID-19. All skilled nursing residents, staff and other potentially exposed individuals are being tested. Today, Baptist Homes Society President & CEO Al Allison issued a memo to all residents, families and staff regarding Baptist Homes Society’s continued efforts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our communities. Since the last update on August 28, 2020 no residents on either the Baptist Homes or Providence Point campus have tested positive for the virus. On August 31, 2020, we were informed that a consulting physician who provided services at the Baptist Homes Skilled Nursing Center tested positive for COVID-19. All staff and residents who were potentially exposed have been notified and are being tested. Baptist Homes Society continues to follow the mandates put in place by Governor Wolf that restrict visitation and support infection control. A memo was issued to all residents, families and staff regarding Baptist Homes Society’s continued efforts to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus within our communities. Since the last update on July 23, 2020 two residents of the Providence Point Healthcare Center have tested positive for COVID-19 and no residents on the Baptist Homes campus have tested positive. Between both campuses, a total of seven staff members and two contracted staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. We have contacted anyone who was potentially exposed to the virus due to close contact with these individuals to inform them of the possible exposure. Retesting due to potential exposure is being completed. Baptist Homes Society continues to follow the mandates put in place by Governor Wolf that restrict visitation and support infection control. Since the last update on July 17, 2020, there have been no newly diagnosed cases among residents at Baptist Homes or Providence Point, and there are no residents or staff members who are symptomatic for COVID-19 on either of our campuses. There was one staff member who tested positive for COVID-19 at Providence Point who was in a position where there was no resident contact, and exposure to other staff members was minimal. On July 17th, Baptist Homes Society President & CEO Al Allison issued a memo to all residents, families, and staff regarding the organization’s ongoing battle with the COVID-19 virus. Since our last weekly update on July 10, 2020, there have been no residents at the Baptist Homes and Providence Point campuses who have tested positive for COVID-19. During the orientation process in which all new staff is tested, one person tested positive for the virus. This person had no contact with residents and was masked. Other staff who had been in contact with this person were tested and were found to be negative for COVID-19. There are currently no residents or staff members who are symptomatic for COVID-19 on either of our campuses. The skilled nursing, personal care, and memory support residences continue to follow the Governor’s mandates regarding visitation, communal dining, group activities, and beauty and barber services. On July 10th, Baptist Homes Society President & CEO Al Allison issued a memo to all residents, families, and staff regarding the organization’s ongoing battle with the COVID-19 virus. Since our last weekly update on July 2, 2020, there have been no residents or staff at the Baptist Homes and Providence Point campuses who have tested positive for COVID-19. There are currently no residents or staff members who are symptomatic for COVID-19 on either of our campuses. The skilled nursing, personal care, and memory support residences continue to follow the Governor’s mandates regarding visitation, communal dining, group activities, and beauty and barber services. The resurgence in the number of positive cases in southwestern Pennsylvania is continuing, prompting the Department of Health to extend its restrictions and orders for residents of Allegheny County for two additional weeks. We all must be diligent to continue to:
- Wear masks while at work,
- Follow the mandate of the State’s expanded face-covering and mask-wearing order to, essentially, wear a mask “whenever anyone leaves home,”
- Practice social distancing of 6 feet or more,
- Continue to observe appropriate cough and sneeze etiquette,
- Continue to wash hands frequently for at least 20 seconds with soap and water, and
- Use hand sanitizer frequently when hand washing is not practicable.

Since our last weekly update on June 25, 2020, there have been no residents or staff at the Baptist Homes and Providence Point campuses who have tested positive for COVID-19. On June 25th, Baptist Homes Society President & CEO Al Allison issued a memo to all residents, families, and staff regarding the organization’s ongoing battle with the COVID-19 virus. Per the mandate of the Pennsylvania Department of Health, we conducted universal baseline COVID-19 testing of all residents and staff. All of our residents had negative test results. We were notified earlier this week that a resident’s caregiver at Providence Point tested positive for COVID-19. We were notified yesterday that one Dining Services employee at the Baptist Homes campus tested positive for COVID-19. That employee had no close contact with any of our residents. We will conduct further testing of all persons who had close contact with either of these individuals to ensure that they continue to be negative for COVID-19. See the full memo here.

Baptist Homes Society President & CEO Al Allison issued a memo today to all residents, families and staff regarding the organization’s ongoing battle with the COVID-19 virus. We have had no new cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff since our last weekly update on June 12, 2020. We have had no new cases among our residents since April 16, 2020. There are currently no residents or staff members who are symptomatic for COVID-19 on either of our campuses. Per Governor Wolf’s mandate, our skilled nursing, personal care, and memory support residences continue to follow visitation restrictions and other COVID-19 guidelines. In addition, per the order of the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health issued on June 8, 2020, in order to assist in protecting the safety of residents and staff, we are beginning the process of universal COVID-19 baseline testing of residents and staff in our healthcare residences. We have had no new cases of COVID-19 among our residents or staff since our last weekly update on June 5, 2020. We have had no new cases among our residents since April 16, 2020. There are currently no residents or staff members who are symptomatic for COVID-19 on either of our campuses. Per Governor Wolf’s mandate, our skilled nursing, personal care, and memory support residences continue to follow visitation restrictions and other guidelines. In addition, per the order of the Pennsylvania Secretary of Health issued on June 8, 2020, in order to assist in protecting the safety of residents and staff, we are beginning the process of universal COVID-19 baseline testing of residents and staff in our healthcare residences.
